General Grant - a Giant Sequoia tree - is the third largest tree in the world by volume, also the "Nation's Christmas Tree" by proclaimation of President Calvin Coolidge in 1926. The tree was also proclaimed a "National Shrine" in 1956 a memorial to those who died in World War 2 - the only living thing so declared. General Grant is located in the Grant Grove of Kings Canyon National Park, California, United States of America.
